Appeasing The King - Esther 2:1-4

The time from the feast mentioned in chapter 1 until the time Esther becomes queen is 4 years. The process of choosing a new queen would have taken some time, but believe some time had elapsed between the end of chapter 1 and the beginning of chapter 2. The king has time to reflect on his decision and possibly regretting what was done and is longing for his queen. His advisors realize the king is depressed and quickly devise a plan to cheer him up. The goal of the advisors was the happiness and pleasure of the king at all costs. We must understand that life is not about self.
